- on a couple of occasions the washer-drier turned itself concerning previous to I was finished and consequently refused to work after I was genuinely done

Reviewing my money-saving options with my Rival crockpot this Christmastime

No review of household appliances this time out, instead I want to mention how I lucked out and found a very affordable (read cheap) way to potentially save a nice bit of cash this Christmastime.  To be more specific, i think I stumbled upon a way to save my trusty Rival crock pot slow cooker from the scrap heap.

Recently the handle came clean off of the lid to my crock pot leaving me with a slow cooker that was so aggravating to use that it had, to all intents and purposes, become unusable for me.  That being the case IU had pretty much resigned myself to the idea that I would have to go out and start pricing anew crock pot and maybe wait until the Boxing Day sales to see if I could get a good deal on one similar to the one I already have.

That fact burned my butt.  Luckily for me however, I stumbled across this little website that was discussing the merits of maintaining your kitchen appliances – specifically your kitchen slow cooker.  The post discussed how for just a few dollars you could go out and buy yourself a brand new pot handle, a bolt, a nut and a washer  and have yourself a good as new (and functioning) lid for your old trusty crock pot!  Well, that was good news for me considering I was not at all thrilled about the prospects of spending money on a new one right around the time when I would be spending money on many others as well.  When money is tight, money is tight, you know? Hey I am as grateful as the next person when buying some small and inexpensive rival crockpot parts saves me from shelling out the money it would have cost me for either a new lid or even a completely new slow cooker.

Here is something that I have noticed more and more of recently: individuals and couples going out to the mall and getting themselves Rival Crock-Pot or other brands of slowcookers.  Various occasions that I am in a shopping center on the weekend, roving through a large store downtown, or even merely riding the bus, I observe people carrying their newly bought Crockpots.  What I have witnessed has really got me to thinking about whether this increased interest in home slow-cookers is really influenced by or a result of the current tough economic times, or more just a mental byproduct of my own increased awareness of the slow cooker as a legitimate meal preparation option.

I personally have doubts that it is the latter, but nonetheless, this prevalent popularity of the slow cooker in general has me wondering about how the supporters of the slow cooker will deal with the looking after of their  trusty appliances now that we have entered a time of uncertainty for the economy; that we are now at a period when so many are rather uncertain of where their own personal economic futures lay – whether they will have a job a few months from now, that I wonder how they will handle the important decision, whenever it should arrive, of what to do when the slow cooker stops cooking? You won’t have to worry about pitting, peeling or stemming your fruit and vegetables. I find it refreshing that we can prepare a fresh drink with so little work and involvement. No longer you have to use your old electric Magic Bullet juice extractor. You really have to try it.
