With more and more home owners deciding to go the renovation route, there are more and more people out there looking for ways to revamp, reinvigorate or simply re-invent their homes in some way. For many, one area up for such considerations is the family bathroom.
Something that many have looked at is the installation of a residential class tankless toilet system. This is not for everyone of course, given that the use of such a system requires the existence of a certain width of drainage/water pipe being used in the home, otherwise the overhauling of the existing pipe network can be very, very costly. The other requirement is that the home in question has a reliable supply of power from the local power grid; the tankless toilet being a powered system instead of a gravity based system means that to successfully flush, it requires a power supply. Simply put: no power, no flushing.
One make of tankless toilet that has been receiving positive reviews is the
Toto MS990CGR-12 Neorest Elongated Toilet and Washlet Unit.
I thought it would be helpful to present both the Manufacturer’s information on the MS990CGR-12 Neorest, as well as the opinion of consumers who have already purchased and installed the system to help you in judging the merits of the system yourself. Of course I atill encourage any potential customers of the system to continue searching for more feedback from other sources that they trust.

FROM THE CONSUMER
Let’s be open as well as frank folks. In today’s overcharged, competitive, frantic world, various of the nearly all quiet, relaxing and deeply intimate times are those we spend within bathroom, on the subject of the toilet. Here we are safe, alone, surrounded by clean, shiny, familiar appliances, several powered by clean electricity, others delivering clean water, hot or chilly or in-between as it may possibly please us through plumbing that works as well as disposing of the spent fluids through quick and efficient drains. The bathroom is that safe and secure place where the light is not too bright then again bright enough to allow for reading, the door locks, the air is clean, fresh and fragrant as well as therefore… ohhh… so there’s our TOTO Sedona Neorest 600 toilet, one of our life’s nearly all secret sources of pleasure, the piece de resistance we can sit about, relax, enjoy ourselves as well as forget regarding everything else – within legal limits, for sure.
The TOTO Neorest 600 comes with a lid that automatically opens upon proximity, an air purifier, a toilet-paper-eliminating washer and drier (the enviroment thanks TOTO for this), automatic flush, a warmable seat, user-controlled water temperature as well as, obviously, TOTO’s own Cyclone Flush – better keep your distance.
What’s not to like in a TOTO Neorest 600? Well… possibly there’s a thing or 2 then, let me write them down:
- remote control batteries hard to discover
- not supported by my Harmony 1100 Advanced Universal Remote Control with 3.5-Inch Color Touch Screen
- no iPod/iPhone support
- the Cyclone Flush noise is too loud, could disturb domestic and neighbors
- self-cleaning only works on the inside on the other hand who is going to clean the outside?
- old-school plumber could not fix it when it broke because he wasn’t familiar with the electronics
- broadband is fine nonetheless there’s no WiFi alternative
- dog can’t drink off it because the lid is incessantly closed when not in use
- doesn’t work when the strength goes out and there is no backup battery or backup generator alternative for this model
- on a couple of occasions the washer-drier turned itself concerning previous to I was finished and consequently refused to work after I was genuinely done
- it is problematic to toilet-train toddlers because it can’t be operated sans a license and you can’t become a license unless you take the class as well as pass the exam
- insurance refuses to cover it
- user’s manual written in an English I can’t understand
- off-shore technical support insists that we go into a video conference every time I call for support
- 30-day free trial not available
- no bidet mode vis-à-vis this model
- no super-saver shipping
- no white glove delivery
Given the above shortcomings I have no choice but remove one star however I consequently hope that the subsequent release will right nearly all if not each as well as every one of them. (Amazon.com)
